Hair colour May 8, 2008

I am used to having people recognise and think I am someone else, usually at least once a week. Apparently all ginga’s are the same person! Anyway, I decided to dye my hair last week, it is a BIG change. So much so that the people who I work with all day and have done for 6 years now didn’t recognise me! I changed the colour in the time between work and going out at night to a client function, needless to say the clients took a while to recognise me as well.

I have been aware most of my life that I get recognised because I have red hair, apparently only 2% of the population have naturally red hair. But I had no idea the impact it would have on people being able to recognise me in a crowd, which got me thinking, maybe it is like the movies, dye your hair black after being blond and you can escape the police whenever you want… Not that I NEED to escape them I hope you realise.

I digress, I am going for a mid-30’s overhaul! I have just bought pencil skirts for work (not as short as I used to wear them 15 years ago of course) and revamped my wardrobe, i.e. got rid of the preggie clothes.

I have a friend turning 30 this month, I remember that, being 7 months pregnant, feeling as big as a house, and spending lots of money because I was so depressed that I was turning 30, couldn’t celebrate in my usual fashion and also was as big as a house (if I hadn’t mentioned that already). Good on her for having kids earlier and being able to enjoy a whole weekend of self indulgent bliss, which I of course will be taking part in. I love my foot spa, just thinking about it makes me want to stop writing. So a weekend of no kids, no husband and all the time to paint nails, do hair, relax, sounds amazing. thebean, if you are reading this, I can’t wait!!

Good night all, the foot spa is calling and I can think of nothing else.

PS Here is a shot of my new hair colour so you can recognise me!

The hairdresser who came round to dye and cut my hair, I love that she comes to my house, cause she comes when it suits me! She is also a friend, so when she found out I had a client function to go to she decided she HAD to put it up at well!!
